Bold Graphic Patterns: This Photo and Print Make a Fantastic Pair

Next up in my art pair series is photographer Beth Wold. Beth has given me a gorgeous photo of a zebra to match with one of my prints. It’s a striking graphic image, titled ‘Zebra V’.

I'm so pleased to have the opportunity to put one of my prints with Beth's gorgeous nature photo, taken in South Africa.

Seeing the moody rhythmic stripes on the zebra immediately made me think of my ‘Thicket Graphic’ print, and I got pretty excited about showing a pair that's all black and white. Both images have strong graphics with an energetic natural quality. The similarity between the curving stripes of the branches and the curving stripes on the zebra ties the two pictures together.

I think I would hang ‘Thicket’ below “Zebra V”. I like the way the upward movement of the branches leads the eye up to the softer, moodier photo. You could frame the pictures in either black or white, depending on the room the work was going in. Here I've chosen the white gallery frame, to let the strength of the images show.
