One of the most amazing visual experiences of my life was scuba diving in the limestone caves (cenotes) on the Yucatán. Dark caves with patches of sunlight, bright white limestone formations created by dripping water eons ago when the caves were aboveground, and a swirling distorting mix of salt and fresh water.
